Dan and his helper Alfie were amazing. I had a nightmare move where my new house purchase didn’t complete on the same day as my house sale. I found myself with all my belongings needing to go into storage over the weekend and then move again on Monday. Dan and Alfie didn’t bat an eyelid when the goods needed to go to a new location last minute. They worked non stop, taking care with my things, late into the evening until the job was done. Hard recommend.
Dan was an absolute star. We had a challenging move from England to Northern Ireland in the middle of storm Floris and he proactively amended his plans as conditions changed (including which ferry to take, and moving our possessions between trucks!) in order to ensure he made the crossing on the scheduled date. He was professional and communicative throughout the process so we always knew what was going on, even when arrival timings were slightly delayed due to circumstances outside anyone's control. We would definitely use his services again, and would highly recommend him to anyone else moving house.
Moving To Haywards Heath?
You’re getting a town with everything you actually need rather than somewhere you have to leave constantly to get anything done. It’s not quaint or particularly pretty, but it’s practical and well-connected, which matters more when you’re living somewhere day-to-day.
The train station is the big selling point – you can be in London Bridge in under an hour, Brighton’s 15 minutes down the line, and Gatwick’s 10 minutes away which is handy if you travel for work. Three different operators run services, so you’ve generally got options if one line’s having a nightmare.
Shopping-wise, you’ve got The Orchards centre with all the usual high street names, plus a Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, and the Broadway with more independent places. You’re not short of supermarkets or places to grab a coffee. Schools get decent ratings – people actively move to Haywards Heath for the catchment areas, which tells you something.
It sits between the High Weald and South Downs, so you can be out in proper countryside within ten minutes of leaving your house. Borde Hill Garden’s on the doorstep if you’re into that sort of thing, and there’s Beech Hurst Park right in town for dog walking.
Housing covers everything from Victorian terraces near the centre to 1930s semis, modern estates, and some larger detached properties on the outskirts. It’s more expensive than it used to be because of the London commuter factor, but you get more space than you would closer to the capital.
It’s not the most exciting town in Sussex, but that’s sort of the point. It works well if you want somewhere functional with good transport links and decent amenities without paying London prices.
